How to Dynamically Control the Vehicle’s Speed

Change the pass, turn and transit speed of the vehicle without having to create a new mission.

Steward operators can dynamically control the speed of the vehicle while a mission is active. This allows for real-time adjustments to varying field conditions or operational requirements on the fly, without the need to halt operations or create a new mission, enhancing operational flexibility and efficiency.

How to Use Dynamic Speed Control

Accessing Speed Control

The speed control feature is available only when the vehicle is online on devices that are running vOS 1.15.0 or higher. Within vMC, select the vehicle you are monitoring and navigate to the “Basic” tab where you will find the “Speed” accordion control.

Adjusting Speed

The speed control allows you to adjust the pass, turn, and transit speeds. Speed adjustments can be made in increments of 0.1 mph, with the minimum allowable speed set at 0.2 mph and the maximum capped by the vehicle’s configuration. Adjusted speeds are displayed in real-time within the speed control panel, allowing for immediate feedback on changes.

Benefits of Dynamic Speed Control

  • Increased Flexibility: Operators can respond to changes in field conditions or operational needs without stopping the vehicle or creating a new mission plan.
  • Enhanced Efficiency: Quick adjustments to speed help maintain optimal performance and productivity, reducing downtime and potentially lowering fuel consumption.
  • User Convenience: Speed settings for assigned missions can be accessed more easily,  increasing the operational awareness and confidence.

Troubleshooting

  • Speed Adjustment Not Reflecting: Ensure the vehicle is in the correct operational mode and check if the “Dynamic Speed” capability is available for the device.
  • Cannot Adjust Speed: Verify that the vehicle’s e-stop is not engaged and that it is actively assigned to a coverage mission.
