Infrared Sensor Calibration

Everything you need to properly calibrate the O3M sensors.

Starting the calibration (Step 1)

When you begin a vehicle calibration, you will see a new option for the "Infrared Sensors". Toggle this option on and click "Calibrate" to begin the calibration process.

Calibration Preparation (Step 2)

Tip: For optimal results, it is best to park the vehicle in a parking lot or on a concrete pad to ensure the vehicle is as level as possible.

Calibration Target Setup (Step 3)

O3M Cal Step 2

Important: If the shipping crate is not used for calibration, please apply a 18in long strip of reflective tape that meets DOT-C2 standards to a cardboard box. (Purchase Link)
Sabanto recommends using a box size of 18in wide by 28in tall. You can use smaller boxes, but it may result in the calibration failing. As a general rule of thumb, the larger the obstacle target the better. (Purchase Link)

Tip: Measure the 25ft distance from the front most part of the vehicle, including weights if attached. (The weights should be included in the vehicle length on vMC)

Tip: Centering the target obstacle in the middle of the vehicle will lead to the best calibration results.

Box Height (Step 4)

Important: After you click "Continue" it may seem as if the system is not doing anything. It is processing data in the background. The calibration will progress automatically once it is done calculating. Please do not press continue again unless it has been at least 1 minute since the last press.

O3M Cal Step 3

Tip: Our calibration works by adjusting the mounting angle in software until the height we see in software matches the height of your target obstacle. Having an accurate height of the obstacle will improve the calibrations performance. It is key to measure from the ground to the top of the obstacle as the top most point of the obstacle is what will be used in the calibration.

Calibration Successful (Step 4 & 5)

Calibration Failure (Non Standard-Step)

Tip: If you have encountered this error, most likely the vehicle was not able to detect your target obstacle.

  • Consider using a larger box if you are using a size below the recommended size (18"w by 28"t).
  • Attempt to use a distance of 20ft, or 30ft, from the front of the vehicle instead of 25ft.
