What is the Obstacle Detection Capable of on the Steward Platform?
Obstacle detection angle
The obstacle detection system on Sabanto Steward has been tuned meticulously to provide the best results for the vehicle it is applied on. Each vehicle will need to have the sensors installed at a specific angle to be effective. For details on setting the angle for your vehicle please visit the corresponding article in the knowledge base.
If your vehicle model is not listed here, please reach out to your dealer.
Changing tire size of the vehicle drastically may require the sensors to be re-aligned at the required angle for that vehicle model.
Detection heights
Each vehicle will have a preset minimum and maximum obstacle detection height. The minimum detection height will be 1m while the maximum height may vary depending on vehicle type.
Any object shorter then 1m will not be detected by Steward by default.
You can lower the minimum obstacle detection height below 1m. However, you may start to get false detections as you reach 0.5m and below.
The system is tuned to use the default values. Clicking the circular button next to the input field will reset the values to default measurements.
When the maximum obstacle detection heights are modified you assume all liability in the event of a collision.
When the minimum obstacle detection heights are modified above 1m you assume all liability in the event of a collision.
Dust disclaimer
When navigating through a large dust cloud, the system may struggle to see beyond it. In such scenarios, the system might fail to detect obstacles due to the obstruction caused by the dust cloud. This behavior is similar to how a person cannot see out of a windshield when dust is everywhere.
Operational disclaimer
When running the system autonomously it is never advised to position your body in front of the moving vehicle.
When testing the obstacle detection system, do not use your person as an obstacle.
