This article will run you through the steps needed to perform a service brake calibration
Video walking through the steps to Perform the Calibration
Performing the calibration
To perform a service brake calibration click the "Begin Calibration" button and select the "Service brake" slider.
Follow the steps provided in the calibration.
Setting the Engaged Location
When adjusting the engaged location, check for the white indicator located on the receiving end of the brake pedal linkage. This indicator is to display when the actuator needs to be extended more.
If you apply the brake pedal with your foot and can see the white indicator, extend the actuator using the buttons provided in the calibration until the indicator disappears.
Continuing to extend the actuator after the white indicator has disappeared will eventually activate Protect Mode on the actuator.
Setting the Disengaged Location
When adjusting the disengaged location, remove your foot from the brake pedal. Use the buttons provided within the calibration to extend the actuator until you see the brake pedal starting to move. Then, retract the actuator once or twice using the buttons within the calibration so that no pressure is applied to the pedal.
Verification
The system will verify your engaged calibrated value. Press the pedal and ensure the indicator is not displayed after it has moved to the engaged location.
Similarly, the system will verify your disengaged calibrated value. Confirm no pressure is applied to the brake pedal.
If satisfied with the verified calibrated values, save them to complete the calibration process.
Protect Mode
The actuator enters protect mode if the force detected exceeds human force limits, safeguarding the hydraulic and mechanical system of your vehicle. This typically occurs during calibration when the actuator is consistently commanded to extend beyond human force capabilities.
Exiting Protect Mode
To exit protect mode,
1. Flip all of the switches on your switchbox to "OFF" and "MANUAL".2. Exit the calibration modal by pressing the "Cancel" button
3. Power cycle the system. More details on powering off and powering on the system can be found on our knowledge base article "How to power the vPFM"
