Keep your Vehicle Path Finding Modules (vPFMs) up to date with the latest software enhancements, bug fixes, and security patches.
Introduction
Over-the-air (OTA) software updates enable you to keep your Vehicle Path Finding Modules (vPFMs) up to date without a service call. This guide will walk you through the process of preparing for, downloading, installing and validating OTA updates.
OTA updates require good cellular reception to download and typically take 10 - 20 minutes to complete the entire download and installation process.
Update notification
You'll be notified of any vOS software updates by an Update Available badge that appears next to the name of a vehicle on the Devices page.
Prepare for software updates
Before beginning the update, you'll need to start and move your tractor to an open field where you can safely leave the engine running and perform equipment validation. The autonomy system must be operating with the Power, Cellular and GPS lights lit. The master Autonomy toggle on the switch box should be down (Off).
Download the OTA software update
To download the update, click on the device card that contains the update alert. Click on the download button to initiate the download.
Once you've received an update alert, your device will display the details of any available updates. This includes the update version, size, and a brief description. The download time varies depending on the size of the update and your internet connection speed.
Install OTA Software Updates
After the download is complete, your device will prompt you to install the update.
After pressing the Install button, a progress bar will appear. You will receive a notification once the installation is complete.
The version number will also update once the process is complete.
Run autonomously
Once validation is complete, you can safely and confidently operate your Steward™ system with the new functionality just installed!
