Audio, Visual & Lighting (AVL) Package
Enhanced Safety & Awareness for Autonomous Operations with Lights and Alarms
Quick Search
Overview
The Audio, Visual & Lighting (AVL) Package adds clear audio and visual communication to Sabanto autonomous tractors.
AVL ensures that anyone near the vehicle, trained operator or bystander, can immediately recognize when the machine is about to move.
The intended message is simple: "When the visual indicator is flashing, stay away."
What the AVL Package Adds
The AVL package adds these additional devices in varying quantities per platform to the Autonomy System:
-
Amber visual warning indicator(s) (flashing warning light(s))
-
High-output audible alarm(s)
-
Field Lighting for Night Operations
Benefits to Installing AVL
Immediate Benefits
AVL ensures that autonomous movement is never silent or ambiguous. With AVL installed, your operation gains:
-
Increased operator safety
-
Clear communication of vehicle movement intent
-
Improved nighttime autonomy performance
-
Reduced risk of unexpected movement near personnel
What AVL Unlocks Next
AVL provides the safety foundation required to expand autonomous capabilities. Installation of AVL will be required to enable the following future features:
-
Extended Auto-Resume timing beyond the current 15-second window, may be updated on a per pause basis
-
Auto-Play, allowing the system to automatically begin the next mission in the queue
These enhancements increase productivity and reduce operator intervention. With AVL installed, the system maintains clear and visible communication whenever the vehicle is preparing to act autonomously.
Auto-Resume feature updates
With the release of AVL operators can now be more aware of the behavior of the vehicle. This allows us to release Auto-Resume functionality to all users with AVL installed! Once the AVL component has been added to your device on vMC you may notice that:
-
Auto-Resume is enabled by default
-
Auto-Resume warning badges have been removed

Movement Warnings & System Behavior
The AVL system activates whenever the tractor is about to perform an action that results in vehicle movement which could cause damage to the environment.
7-Second Warning Before Movement
Hitch movement and engine crank, do not trigger the 7-second warning on initial release of AVL.
Before the system:
-
Begins forward movement (manual resume or auto-resume)
-
Engages the PTO
-
Moves an implement (fold, unfold, raise, lower, extend, retract, etc.)
The AVL system provides:
-
7 seconds of flashing yellow visual indication
-
7 seconds of continuous audible alarm
After the 7-second warning period, the commanded action begins.
During Autonomous Operations
The visual indicator remains flashing with no audible alarm anytime:
-
The vehicle is navigating
-
The system is eligible to auto-resume
-
An implement sequence is in progress that will resume forward movement. (Agrivator)
Fully Paused State
When autonomous navigation is fully paused and there are no implement commands coming from a user:
-
The visual indicator turns off.
-
The audible alarm is silent.
At this point, the vehicle is fully stationary and is safe to approach.
Field Lighting for Night Operations
AVL includes high-output field lights to ensure operators can see at night. These lights will turn on autonomously when it becomes night.
-
Automatically turn field lights on/off based on local sunrise and sunset times to ensure lights are on when it is dark around the vehicle.
- Adjusting the times for which the field lights turn on or off is not currently available.
- Manual control of the lights is not currently available.
-
Lights automatically shut off when not needed to preserve battery life.
- Example: When the engine for the vehicle is turned off, field lights will turn off shortly after.
AVL Hardware Monitoring
The AVL system continuously monitors its own hardware. If any of the following are disconnected or faulty the system will pause navigation immediately.
-
Alarms
-
AVL main controller
Additionally, the AVL system monitors the relay and control circuitry responsible for powering the visual indicators and pod lights. This ensures the system can command the lights on, but it does not provide per-light monitoring if one becomes disconnected.
Installation & Integration
AVL is installed as an additional hardware package and enabled through vMC. To enable the kit on vMC for the vehicle, navigate to the "Components" tab inside the tractor's settings. Add the AVL kit component and select the model of the kit you are installing.
| Model | Desc |
| None | For use when no AVL kit is attached to the vehicle. |
| Sabanto V2 | First version of the AVL kit to release publicly. |

If the AVL package is not installed:
-
AVL-specific features remain disabled
-
Standard autonomy functions continue as normal
