Hibernation mode

Learn the details of how hibernation mode functions.

Automatic hibernation mode

Software

Hibernation mode will function on all devices that have vOS 1.14.3 or higher installed.

Initiating hibernation mode

To initiate automatic hibernation, you must either push in the emergency stop or turn off the tractor ignition by any method. This action starts a two-hour timer. If the emergency stop is cycled or the ignition is turned back on, the timer resets. Once the two hours have elapsed, the system will enter hibernation mode.

Initiating full power from hibernation mode

To bring the vPFM out of hibernation mode and back to full power, you need to physically cycle the emergency stop on the switch box or remote wake the system. Remote awakening is only available on select devices, please visit here to learn more.

Storage

Sabanto does not recommend that a system be left in hibernation mode for extended periods of time. If the system will not be used for more than two days, it is recommended to remove power from the vPFM completely. Instructions Here.

Power consumption

Power consumption varies across platform types, but our testing shows that this feature can reduce power consumption by up to 90% in hibernation mode compared to the vPFM being on with the ignition off.

Delaying hibernation mode

Hibernation mode cannot be disabled. However, you can delay its activation by adjusting the "ignition timeout when idle" under the advanced controls in vMC to a value higher than the default 15 minutes. This will keep the ignition on longer, preventing the two-hour timer for hibernation mode from starting.
