Infrared Sensor Calibration

We’re excited to introduce our new Infrared Sensor Calibration feature. This update lets you quickly calibrate your sensor by entering the height of a calibration target. The system then automatically calculates the sensor’s true mounting angle.

Once calibration is complete, the infrared sensor will accurately measure obstacle heights at the specified distance from the front of the vehicle, providing more reliable data and improved overall performance.

For step-by-step instructions, please visit here.

IMPORTANT: After updating to the latest vOS, we ask that all Sabanto Autonomy Systems perform this calibration when applicable. If, after calibration, your minimum obstacle detection height is set above 1 m, please adjust it back to 1 m or lower.

Improved Stopping Distance for Radar and Vision Detection

We have increased the stopping distance for computer vision (CV) and radar-based obstacle detection. This ensures that when the vehicle pauses for an obstacle detected by either system, it maintains a larger and safer gap between the vehicle and the obstacle.

Vision Detection Model Advancements

This update includes great improvements to our AI Computer Vision model. In our testing we ran our system through 50,000 images. The results of our testing are shown in the table below.

Category Percentage Improvement
False Positives Greater than a 60% reduction
Person Detection 50% increase of detection
Irrigation Pivots 200% increase of detection

Note: We are actively improving our CV model, if you would like to assist by providing us images to train on, please click here or contact Sabanto Support.

CPU Performance Improvements

We’re excited to share that your system’s processing speed has been significantly boosted with this update. These improvements mean faster response times, smoother operation, and a noticeable reduction in any CPU-related pauses while using your equipment.

Resolved Issues

  • PTO ‘Engage’ button for the Agrivator: When a "Device Reset" is performed with an Agrivator attached, the system now correctly grays out the "Engage" button for the PTO. It will only be active when the implement is raised.
  • Agrivator PTO auto-engagement issue: Resolved an issue where the Agrivator failed to automatcally engage the PTO while working a field during a mission.
  • Lookahead dot jumps: Multiple scenarios where the blue lookahead dot would jump at the start of a mission or during other mission segments, causing path errors, have been resolved.
  • Red radar badge bug: Fixed an issue where the "Radar" badge would display incorrectly on vMC, preventing vehicle navigation. The previous workaround required a device restart. Users should no longer encounter this issue.
  • CAN communication errors: Corrected a CAN network issue that caused various components to report errors, leading to navigation pauses and the autonomy system turning off the ignition.
  • Remote start failures: Addressed an intermittent issue with the remote crank process that occasionally prevented the engine from starting. This is now resolved.
  • Swapping implement while vehicle offline: Fixed a problem where an implement would fail to load properly if swapped while the vehicle system was offline.
  • High CPU usage during live video streaming: CPU usage during live video streaming has been greatly reduced, improving system performance.
  • Brake calibrations saved values after canceling: Canceling a brake calibration no longer results in incorrect values being saved.
  • Failure to Transition Organizations: Enhanced handling of organization switching to prevent scenarios where devices would fail to transition in vMC without assistance from Sabanto support.
  • 'Mission Started' Message After Device Restart: Reduced the occurrence of the system incorrectly reporting a “Mission Started” event following a device reboot.
  • CV camera calibration closing unexpectedly: Previously, vehicles that had not been on vOS 1.17.4 before updating to vOS 1.18.X and were not Kubota M5 ROPS/Cab or John Deere 5E models were unable to complete CV camera calibration using vMC because the calibration process closed automatically. This issue has now been resolved, and calibration can be completed successfully on all supported models.
  • Ignition shutting off after PTO error in AUTO mode: Previously, in rare cases a PTO error could cause the ignition to turn off. After this occurred, the ignition would fail to restart if the switches were left in AUTO mode. This issue, which originated in vOS 1.17.4, has now been fully resolved. A device restart workaround is no longer required.
